The second Design and Technology Exhibition took place on Tues 21st May and the work of all Year 9 GCSE Product Design Short Course, GCSE Product Design, A Level Product Design and BTEC Construction pupils was on show. Again, the standard was extremely high and everyone who attended was impressed with high quality of finish, the level of creativity and the imaginative and original ideas produced through research, development and modelling. Year 10 Catering pupils produced a range of canapés and ‘waited on’ as visitors arrived.
Along with the large amount of pupils and parents who attended the exhibition, there were also a number of teachers from other schools, university students and post-graduates, architects and designers. Many commented on the quality of work on show and how they were going to take ideas back to their own schools on how the courses are delivered at Sandbach School and the standard of work produced.
Mr Bowyer, Curriculum Coordinator for Design and Technology commented “A big mention must go to all the pupils who have worked hard throughout the year to complete their work to such a high standard and the staff in the department who have combined their commitment and expertise to support the pupils, resulting in such a fantastic end result. Many teachers at other schools attended the exhibition and this is testament to the quality of work and the fact that the Design and Technology Department at Sandbach School are delivering an innovative and attractive curriculum which other schools are learning from.”
